DEA Press Release on Dr. Tate’s Resignation

The Davenport Education Association released the following on Friday regarding Dr. Tate’s resignation announcement.

“As President and on behalf of the Davenport Education Association (DEA), I want to express my thanks and gratitude to Dr. Arthur Tate for his years of service to the students, staff and citizens of the Davenport Community School District (DCSD),” said Carissa Johnson, President of the Davenport Education Association and a social studies teacher at Davenport Central High School.

“I can imagine how difficult the decision to leave the DCSD was for Dr. Tate.  His leadership, strength and outspoken support of our students has been nothing short of inspirational. He has been an outstanding employer for members of the DEA  — always approachable and organized and has consistently sought out our opinion and views on issues affecting teachers and other professionals. Dr. Tate has truly been a ‘hands on’ superintendent and there was never a doubt he put the education of children first and foremost in everything he has done for the DCSD.”

“As an organization, the DEA will work with the DCSD Board of Education and Administration to ensure a smooth transition to a new Superintendent of Schools upon Dr. Tate’s departure,” said Johnson. “We wish Corrine Tate, Dr. Tate’s wife and fellow DEA member, and Dr. Tate nothing but the best in the next phase of their lives.”
