Scholarships Available from DEA and Great River UniServ

The Davenport Education Association Dwight H. Persels Memorial Scholarship  Building reps should have received an email with the guidelines and application. The DEA’s scholarship involves three (3) $700 scholarships. Recipients must be the son or daughter of a DEA member including anyone for whom the member legally provides the majority of support. All scholarships will be awarded on the basis of highest grade point average with one of the scholarships awarded to the nominee who will be majoring in Education with the intent on entering the teaching profession. Applications are due to the ISEA Quad Cities Regional office by Monday, April 1, 2019. Great River UniServ Doug Walter Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship applicants must be graduating high school seniors from the Bettendorf or Davenport Community School Districts or a current student at Eastern Iowa Community College. Applicants must show through their academic studies or through their community service (or both) a willingness and/or affinity towards human rights and social justice. Applications must include a 750-word essay (minimum) on their vision of social justice and how their education will help enhance that vision. The scholarship recipient will receive a check for $500 made out to the college or university where the recipient attends or will attend. Deadline for applications is Monday, April 1, 2019.
